Which format should I pick? (Scramble, best ball, stroke)

Plain-English definitions so you can choose the right play format for your crowd.

Most charity events use a scramble — it's fun, fast, and friendly for all skill levels. Here's the difference:

  • Scramble (recommended): Everyone on the team hits, you pick the best shot, and everyone plays from there. One team score per hole. Great for mixed-ability groups.
  • Best ball: Everyone plays their own ball; the team takes the lowest score on each hole.
  • Stroke play: Each golfer's individual total. More competitive/serious events.
  • Stableford: A points-based system (less common for charity scrambles).

When in doubt, choose scramble. You can change the format in your event settings before the event.
