Should I use handicaps?

Handicaps level the field between strong and casual golfers — optional for most charity events.

A handicap is a number that represents a golfer's skill so weaker and stronger players can compete fairly. Turning on handicaps lets Redswing show net scores (after handicap) alongside gross (raw) scores.

  • Casual charity scramble? You can skip handicaps — gross scoring is simpler and most teams won't mind.
  • Competitive field? Turn handicaps on and collect each player's handicap during registration.

You enter handicaps manually (or players provide them at registration). Official GHIN lookups require a USGA membership integration and aren't built in yet.
