Redswing vs Eventbrite

Switching from Eventbrite

Bring the list you already have.Run golf day on it.

Sell tickets where you like. When it is time to pair foursomes, check people in and keep score, upload your attendee list to Redswing and run the day from it. Your golfers download nothing.

Free to run your tournament.

Sign-ups, pairings, scoring, leaderboard and check-in are free. When card payments open, golfers who pay online add a $5 booking fee at checkout (or you can cover it). 0% on sponsorships, auction, add-ons and donations.

What your golfers pay on Eventbrite

Eventbrite lists a service fee of 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket, plus 2.9% payment processing per order. Buyers pay the fees by default. Organizers can choose to absorb them.

Estimated Eventbrite fees per paid ticket at $150, $175 and $200, when the buyer pays the fees
Ticket priceFees added per ticketGolfer pays
$150about $11.69about $161.69
$175about $13.34about $188.34
$200about $14.99about $214.99

Estimate from Eventbrite's published rates; processing applied to the ticket price. Fees added = 3.7% of the price + $1.79 + 2.9% of the price. Eventbrite's page does not say whether the 2.9% applies to the ticket price or the whole order, so the real figure may be a little higher. How Redswing handles it

Until card payments open, golfers pay you directly (cash, check or your own link) or you add them by hand. That is free. Redswing never sends you a bill.

When card payments open, golfers who pay online add a $5 booking fee inside the price they see (or you can cover it). Golfers who pay you directly or that you add by hand stay free. Redswing takes 0% of sponsorships, auction, add-ons and donations. Card processing is charged by your payment processor.

What golf day needs after the sign-up

Golf day starts where the sign-up ends: who plays with whom, where they start, how they score, who is winning.

Bring your list in three steps

Import is self-serve. You do it yourself, and nothing is saved until you confirm.

  1. Export your list from EventbriteIn Eventbrite, open Reporting, then Event reports, and choose the Attendee Summary. Export it as CSV or Excel. Use “Edit columns” to add the answers to your custom questions, such as team name or shirt size. Menu names can change, so see the step-by-step help article.
  2. Upload it to your Redswing eventCreate your event on Redswing first. Then go to Dashboard, your event, Golfers, Import. Choose the CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file.
  3. Check the preview and match the columnsYou see counts before anything is saved. Eventbrite files are read with the generic column matcher, with no special recognition, so check each column and fix any guess. If your file has a column with each golfer’s payment status (paid, comp, unpaid), match it to “Payment status” and paid golfers stay paid. Then confirm.

What the import does

  • Golfers and sponsors: the import page has a tab for each.
  • Duplicates are skipped. Two rows with the same email count once.
  • A team or foursome column builds the teams, up to 4 golfers each.
  • Golfers marked paid are recorded as paid, and comps as comp. Refunded, revoked and cancelled rows are left out, with a note.
  • Imported golfers are never signed up for texts. They opt in themselves.
  • Up to 2,000 rows and 2 MB per file. The older .xls format is not supported: save as .xlsx or CSV.

Keep Eventbrite if you like it

You do not have to leave. If your sign-ups work well on Eventbrite, keep them there. Keep selling tickets on Eventbrite, export the list when sign-ups close, and run golf day on Redswing from that same list: pairings, tee sheet, check-in, scoring and the leaderboard.

If you would rather take sign-ups on Redswing, golfers can reserve a spot on your event page and pay you directly. Card payments are not open on Redswing yet, so use Mark paid when the money reaches you.

Questions people ask

Do I have to cancel Eventbrite?
No. Keep selling tickets there as long as you like. Export your attendee list when you are ready and upload it to Redswing. Nothing in Eventbrite changes when you do.
Do golfers get texts?
Not unless they opt in. Golfers you import are never signed up for text messages. Redswing does not carry text consent over from a file, so each golfer opts in themselves.
What does it cost?
Free to run your tournament. Sign-ups, pairings, scoring, leaderboard and check-in are free. When card payments open, golfers who pay online add a $5 booking fee at checkout (or you can cover it). 0% on sponsorships, auction, add-ons and donations.
Will golfers who already paid on Eventbrite be charged again?
No. Redswing does not charge anyone when you import a list. If your file has a payment status column (paid, comp, unpaid), match it to Payment status and paid golfers are recorded as paid. Rows marked comp are recorded as comp. Refunded or cancelled rows are left out, with a note. Card payments are not open on Redswing yet.
Does Redswing read Eventbrite files in a special way?
No. Eventbrite files are read with the same column matcher as any spreadsheet: it guesses which column holds the name, email, phone and so on, and you fix any guess on the preview screen. Givebutter ticket exports are recognized automatically.
What file can I upload?
A CSV or an Excel .xlsx file, up to 2 MB and 2,000 rows. The older .xls format is not supported: in Excel choose Save As and pick .xlsx or CSV.
Can I bring in sponsors too?
Yes. The import page has a Sponsors tab. Upload a CSV or Excel file with company, tier, amount and contact columns and match them the same way.

Where these facts come from

  • Eventbrite organizer pricingService fee 3.7% + $1.79 per paid ticket, plus 2.9% payment processing per order; buyers pay by default and organizers can absorb it. Checked 2026-11-04.
  • Eventbrite Help Center, article 761718 (Attendee Summary report)Reporting > Event reports > Attendee Summary exports to CSV or Excel; "Edit columns" adds answers to custom questions. We read this as a search-result summary on 2026-11-04 and did not open the article, so treat the menu names as a guide; Eventbrite may change them.
