Volunteers: scoring, texts, and what they can see

What volunteers can and cannot do in Redswing, how a volunteer can help with scoring or contests, and how to text your volunteers.

Volunteers are a roster, not user accounts. They do not log in, and Redswing does not text them.

Overview

The Volunteers tab keeps names, roles, hole assignments, shifts, and contact details. Redswing does not capture text consent from volunteers, and Communications only texts players who opted in. A volunteer link is a scoring link or a page you share with them.

Give a volunteer a way to help with scoring

  • Scoring a group (for players who cannot): copy the group's scoring link from the Scoring page and give it to the volunteer. They enter the group's scores. See When phones or signal fail.
  • A contest result such as closest to the pin: contest winners are entered by someone signed in to the dashboard, in Contests. A volunteer at the hole writes the result on paper. You enter the winner and the result (for example 12 ft) later. See Contests.
  • A scoring link stopped working: see Scoring link problems.

Text your volunteers

Use your own phone or a group chat. Redswing does not text volunteers, because it has no consent record for them.

What team roles can see

Redswing has three roles for people you invite under Dashboard → Team:

  • Admin: full access, plus managing the team and billing.
  • Editor: create and run events. Cannot manage the team or billing.
  • Viewer: read-only dashboards and reports, for board members. There is no role limited to check-in only. An Editor can see payments and money screens. For check-in without money screens, use the self-check-in kiosk page, which needs no login. See Checking players in.

Things to know

  • A beverage cart volunteer cannot see who bought drink tickets unless you invite them. Invite only people you trust with the data.
  • Viewers can see money figures. Do not use Viewer as a limited role.
