You close the auction yourself when bidding is over. Then you lock in winners and collect payment yourself.
Card payments are not open yet. Until they open, record checks and cash. See Connecting a payment account.
Overview
The silent auction closes when you click a button. It does not close on a timer that you set in the dashboard. That also means anti-snipe extensions only apply to items that have a close time stored. Plan the close announcement for the room and click Close & set winners at that moment.
Steps
- Open Dashboard → Events → [Event] → Auction.
- Announce the close time, and stop paper bids at the same moment. See Paper bid sheets.
- Click Close & set winners. This closes every open item and locks in the current high bidder as the winner. Items with no bids close with no winner.
- Check each item shows the right winner and amount.
- Card settlement is not available yet. Collect each winning bid yourself (cash, check or your own payment link), then click Mark paid on the item. See An auction winner can't pay.
Things to know
- Do not close items one by one with the Close button if you want winners locked in. Close only changes the item's status. Use Close & set winners for the whole auction, and check each item afterward.
- Items you close before winners are set may show no winner. Open Ask AI and ask it to look at the item if a winner is missing.
- The auction total counts closed items, paid or not. Check the total against what you actually collected before you report it.
- Redswing takes no fee on the auction. See What does Redswing cost?.
- Receipts for winners depend on each item's fair market value. See Auction receipts and fair market value.
