Redswing does not have a transfer button. Transfers are done by changing the record with Redswing support, or by refunding and re-registering.
Draft for legal review: This article describes how Redswing works in plain language. It is not tax or legal advice and an attorney has not reviewed it yet. Ask your tax advisor or attorney about your own situation.
Overview
A registration belongs to the person who paid. Moving a spot to another person, another team, or another event changes records and sometimes money. Whether to allow it is your organization's policy.
Give your spot to someone else
- Your committee decides whether it is allowed and writes the new name down.
- Follow the steps in Swapping or substituting a player.
- The payment stays with the first person. The new person does not pay again unless your organization decides otherwise.
Switch from one team to another
Players are placed into groups when pairings are generated. If you have not generated pairings yet, ask support to move the player. After pairings, groups are fixed, and re-running pairings erases manual changes. See Undoing a pairings change.
Move a payment to another event or next year
There is no credit balance or money transfer in Redswing. Two options:
- Refund and re-register: refund the first payment (see Issuing a refund), and the person registers for the other event.
- Keep a credit yourself: your organization notes the credit in its own records and gives the person a comp code next time. See Discount and comp codes. Put the credit in writing to the person, including when it expires. Some states limit expiration dates on credits. Whether this has tax or other consequences for your organization is a question for your attorney.
Things to know
- A refund is not the same as a transfer. Refunds go back to the original card.
- If you refund a golfer, their $5 booking fee is refunded too. See Issuing a refund.
- Tell your players your transfer policy on the event page. A short sentence avoids arguments on the day.
