If someone may be hurt, call 911 first. Redswing is software, not an emergency service, and it cannot send help.
Overview
This article covers two kinds of problems. People problems (injury, heat illness, a cart accident, a lost child, severe weather) are handled by the course and emergency services. Technology problems (scoring, check-in, or the leaderboard stop working) are handled with the paper fallback and Redswing support.
If a person may be hurt or in danger
- Call 911 (in the United States). Give the hole number and the nearest cart path or road.
- Alert course staff. They know the course layout and the emergency plan.
- Stop play in the affected area. Follow your course's emergency plan.
- Assign one person to stay with the person who is hurt and one person to meet the ambulance.
- Write down what happened, the time, and who was involved. Your organization may need it later.
- Only after people are safe, tell your committee and decide what to announce.
For lightning and severe weather, see Lightning and severe weather.
Lost child
Tell course staff and call 911 if the child is not found quickly. Check the clubhouse, the cart barn, the driving range, and parked cars. Keep one person at the registration desk as the contact point.
If scoring, check-in, and the leaderboard all fail
- Stay calm. Players can keep playing. Nothing about the round depends on the leaderboard.
- Switch to paper scorecards and a hand-built leaderboard. See When phones or signal fail.
- Check in players from a printed list or from the Registrations page if it loads. See Check-in.
- Take cash and checks for walk-ups and record them afterward.
- Open Ask AI, the red button in your dashboard. If it does not load, email hello@redswing.io from any device.
How to reach Redswing support
- Ask AI can look up your event and hand the issue to Redswing support. The hand-off sends your whole conversation so you do not have to repeat yourself.
- On event days, after a few messages with Ask AI, the dashboard shows an emergency contact phone number.
- Redswing support does not run a 24-hour emergency line. Email hello@redswing.io and we'll get back to you. Print a paper backup before the day so nothing depends on a reply.
If a reporter asks about your event's finances
Redswing does not speak to the media for organizers. Refer the reporter to the person your organization chose as its spokesperson. Do not share donor or player lists.
Things to know
- Ask AI is for technology and event questions. Do not rely on it for medical or safety decisions.
- A slow page is not always an outage. Check whether the problem is only at the course (weak signal) before you escalate.
