Your receipt, and what is tax-deductible

The emails you get after paying, where the tax notice is, and why the booking fee is never deductible.

After you pay you can get up to three things. Here's what each one is for.

Draft for legal review: This article describes how Redswing works in plain language. It is not tax or legal advice and an attorney has not reviewed it yet. Ask your own tax advisor or attorney about your situation.

What you get

"You're registered for [event name]"The organizerDate, times, course and what you paid. If a tax notice applies to your payment, it's included.
"Your receipt from Redswing for [event name]"Redswing (card payments with a booking fee)Each line of your order and the booking fee.
An acknowledgment letterThe charity, if they send themBuilt from what you paid and the value you were told at checkout.

The tax notice

When your payment is over the IRS limit and the organizer has said what golfers receive (green fee, cart, meals), you see a Tax deductibility notice before you pay, and the same notice goes with your confirmation email. It says how much of your payment may be deductible. The organizer sets the values; Redswing writes the notice from them.

The booking fee

The $5 Redswing booking fee is paid to Redswing for event software. It is not a contribution to the organization and is not tax-deductible.

What Redswing can't tell you

Whether you can deduct anything depends on the charity's status and your own taxes. Ask your tax advisor.

Still need help? Your tournament organizer can fix this. Reply to your confirmation email (replies go to the organizer), or ask at the check-in desk on the day.
