The price you see is the price you pay. The event page, the top of the sign-up form and the order summary all show the same total.
Draft for legal review: This article describes how Redswing works in plain language. It is not tax or legal advice and an attorney has not reviewed it yet. Ask your own tax advisor or attorney about your situation.
The short version
- The organizer sets the price. Your money for the sign-up goes to the organizer's own account.
- Paying online by card? The price includes a $5 Redswing booking fee per golfer. The event page shows it inside the price, for example: $155 per golfer (includes $5 Redswing booking fee). Some organizers pay this fee for you; then you just see one price.
- Paying the organizer directly (cash, check or their own link)? No booking fee is added.
What the order summary shows
Before the pay button you see an Order summary with a line for each part: the registration and any extras (paid to the organizer), the Redswing booking fee if there is one, any discount, and the Total. Under it:
- What it pays for: Pays for Redswing's registration, pairings and live scoring software. It goes to Redswing, not to the organization.
- Refunds: If you are refunded, your booking fee is refunded too (in proportion, for a partial refund).
- Taxes: The $5 Redswing booking fee is paid to Redswing for event software. It is not a contribution to the organization and is not tax-deductible.
The optional "cover card fees" box
Some forms show a box to add a little so the organizer isn't charged card fees on your payment. It starts unticked and is up to you. If you tick it, that amount goes to the organizer. It's not part of the booking fee. See The "add the card fees" box.
Tax deductibility notice
If the organizer has said what a golfer receives (green fee, cart, meal) and your payment is over the IRS limit, a Tax deductibility notice appears on the Extras step. It tells you how much of your payment may be deductible. The organizer sets the values, not Redswing. See Your receipt, and what is tax-deductible.
Your card statement
Card details go straight to the payment provider. Redswing never sees or stores your card number.
