A ten-minute practice run a few days before the event catches wrong pars, a missing group or a TV that will not connect.
Who can do this: Admin or Editor Time: about 10 minutes
Before you start
- Pairings are made (the Scoring page lists one card per group).
- Anything you enter on a real scoring link is a real score. It shows on the leaderboard. If you test a score, change it back the same way (below) or use a group you can fix later.
Steps
- Open Scoring in the event sidebar. Each group has a card.
- On any group, tap Scoring links, then Open next to a golfer. Their scorecard opens in a new tab.
- Check the top of the card: the team name, Hole and Par for the group's first hole, and the hole numbers in the row. A shotgun group starts on its own starting hole.
- Look, but do not tap Next hole unless you want to save that score.
- Open the leaderboard (Open leaderboard at the top of Scoring) on the TV or laptop you will use, and tap TV mode.
- Open the self check-in page on the tablet you will use (the link under Self-check-in kiosk on Check-in). Do not check anyone in.
If you saved a test score
Go back to the same golfer's link. Tap the hole in the row of hole numbers, set the score you want with minus or plus, and tap Next hole. A hole cannot be emptied once it is saved, so test on a hole you will overwrite on the day, or ask the group to enter their real score over it.
What to look for
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Every hole says Par 4 | The course pars are not set. Fix them in Event settings, under Course & scorecard. |
| A group is missing | Check Pairings. Golfers under Not in a group yet need a group. |
| The wrong starting hole | Change it on the group's card on Pairings. |
| The TV shows a blank page | Try a laptop and an HDMI cable. See The TV board looks wrong. |
