Set up your event

Step 2, Format: scramble, start type, team size, holes and flights

Choose how your tournament plays and starts, how big each team is, and how many holes and flights.

This step sets how your tournament is played. The defaults (scramble, shotgun, teams of four, 18 holes, one flight) fit most charity events.

Time: about 2 minutes.

Steps

  1. Pick the Player format. A plain sentence appears under the menu to remind you how it plays. Not sure? See Which format should I pick?.
  2. Pick the Start format: Shotgun, Wave or Tee times. See Shotgun, wave or tee-time start?.
  3. Type the Team size, from 1 to 6 golfers. A foursome is 4.
  4. Leave Max players blank for no limit, or type the most golfers you can take. When the field is full, golfers see Sold out, or the waitlist if you turned it on.
  5. Pick Holes: 18 or 9.
  6. Type the Number of flights. Use 1 if everyone competes together. See What flights are.
  7. If you chose Wave, type Minutes between waves.
  8. Tick Use handicaps only if you want net scores. See Should I use handicaps?.
  9. Tap Next.

What happens next

Your choices go on your event page and drive your pairings. Nothing is public until you publish.

After you publish

Event settings can change team size and max players. It cannot change the format, start type, holes, flights or handicaps. If you need those changed after publishing, open Ask AI and say what you want, before you make pairings.
