Who can do this: Admin or Editor You will need: the item's name, a starting bid, and (ideally) a photo and an estimated value
Steps
- Open Auction in the event sidebar (in the Money group).
- In the Add item card on the right, upload a Photo (optional).
- Type the Title, like "Golf for 4 at Pebble Beach".
- Optional: type a Description.
- Type Min bid ($): the starting bid. Type Increment ($): the least a bid can go up by.
- Type Fair market value ($): a good-faith estimate of what the item is worth to the winner. The form says: "Tax letters need it."
- Click Add item. It stays grey until the Title and Min bid are filled.
What happens next
- The item appears in the list as #N Title with "Starting bid $X" and the status Not open yet. Items are numbered in the order you add them.
- Print its sheet with Bid sheet: Print bid sheets.
- You can fix a mistake later. See Edit or delete an auction item.
Tax note
Draft for legal review: This article describes how Redswing works in plain language. It is not tax or legal advice and an attorney has not reviewed it yet. Ask your tax advisor or attorney about your own situation.
Fair market value matters for the winner's tax receipt. Do not leave it blank for items with real value. See Auction receipts and fair market value.
