Who can do this: Admin or Editor You will need: a spreadsheet saved as CSV
Steps
- Open Auction.
- Click CSV template (top right) to download a sample file named auction-items-template.csv.
- Open it in a spreadsheet. Keep the first row. Fill one item per row, with these columns:
| Column | Needed? | Example |
|---|---|---|
| item_number | Yes | 1 |
| title | Yes | Golf Getaway Package |
| description | No | 2 nights, 2 rounds |
| category | No | Travel |
| fair_market_value | No | 850 |
| minimum_bid | Yes, above 0 | 150 |
| bid_increment | No | 25 |
- Save as CSV.
- Click Import items and choose the file.
- A box shows "N items found". Rows with a problem are shaded red with a reason: "Missing title", "Invalid minimum bid", "Invalid item number" or "Duplicate item number". The preview shows the first 50 rows.
- Fix the problems in your file and import again. When no row is red, click Import N items.
What happens next
- You see "N items imported" and the items appear in the list. Photos are not imported: add them with Edit on each item.
Common problems
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Duplicate item number" | Two rows share a number | Give each row its own number. |
| The Import button is grey | At least one row has an error, or the file is empty | Fix the red rows. |
| You already added some items by hand | The new numbers might repeat them | Start your new numbers after your last one, to be safe. |
