Troubleshooting

The QR code won't scan

Fixes for a group QR code that a phone camera won't open, and the fastest workaround.

Quick fix (try this first): skip the QR. On the group's card on Scoring, tap Copy group link and text it to one golfer in the group, or have the group score on a teammate's phone.

Check these, in order

  1. Open the camera app, not a QR app, and hold the phone 15 to 30 cm (6 to 12 inches) away. Wait for the link to pop up at the top or bottom of the screen and tap it.
  2. Light and glare. Glossy paper or a laminated sign in the sun reflects. Tilt it or shade it.
  3. Printed too small or blurry. Print it bigger (at least 5 cm, 2 inches, wide). If you pasted a small picture and stretched it, save the QR again from the Scoring page.
  4. Scanning a screen. Turn your screen brightness up and zoom in on the QR.
  5. Old phones. Some older phones need a QR app. Use the copied link instead.
  6. It opens but shows a message. The QR worked; the page has a message. See A scoring link says invalid, wrong team or closed.
  7. Old sign from a past event. Each event has its own codes. Print this event's QR.

Still not working: the backup

A teammate scores on their phone, or the group uses a paper card. See When phones or signal fail.

Still stuck?

Open Ask AI (the red button in your dashboard) and describe what you see. It can look at your event and hand the problem to a person at Redswing. If the dashboard will not load, email hello@redswing.io from any device. On event day, switch to the paper backup first so play never waits on a reply.
