Troubleshooting

A refund has not reached the golfer

The golfer says their refund isn't on their card, or the team is still on your list after a refund. Check it step by step.

Draft for legal review: This article describes how Redswing works in plain language. It is not tax or legal advice and an attorney has not reviewed it yet. Ask your tax advisor or attorney about your own situation.

Quick fix (try this first): open Get paid → Refund a payment and find the payment. If it says "$... already refunded" or Fully refunded., the refund was sent from your Square account. The rest is the bank's timing.

Check these, in order

  1. Was it sent? On Refund a payment, a sent refund shows on the payment as "already refunded". If the payment still shows its full amount with no refund, the refund didn't go through: send it again (Admin). See Refund a golfer or team that paid by card.
  2. How long ago? Card refunds take time to appear, often several business days, depending on the golfer's bank. Before then, the golfer may see nothing, or a pending line.
  3. What does Square say? Sign in to your Square account and find the payment. Square shows whether the refund is pending, completed or failed.
  4. Was the card closed or replaced? The refund goes back to the original card. Ask the golfer to call their bank with the amount and date.
  5. The team is still on Golfers. Square hasn't confirmed the full refund yet, or it was a part refund (a part refund never removes anyone). Refresh later. Do not use Remove; it refuses card-paid teams.
  6. Cash or check? Redswing never sends that money. You give it back yourself. See Give back cash or a check.

Still not working: the backup

Give the golfer the refund amount and date (from Square) so their bank can trace it. Never send a second refund to "make sure": both would go through.

Why this happens

The refund leaves your Square account when you send it, but each bank decides when it shows on the card.

Still stuck?

Open Ask AI, the red button in your dashboard. It can check the payment and hand the issue to a person.
