Late or failed payouts

Card money hasn't reached your bank, or Square shows a failed payout. What to check, in order.

Redswing never holds your money and can't release a payout. Square pays card money out to your organization's bank, so the answer is almost always in your Square account.

Check these, in order

  1. Open Payouts and tap Open your payment account. Find the payout in Square.
  2. Pending or in transit: it is on its way. Banks can take extra business days; weekends and bank holidays don't count.
  3. Failed: usually the bank details were rejected (wrong number, closed account, or a name that doesn't match). Fix them in Square; Square tries again.
  4. Held: Square may hold a payout while it checks your account, especially the first one. Send Square what it asks for.
  5. Nothing at all: check that the payments reached Square. Card payments for your events appear in Square's list of payments.

Things to know

  • Change bank details only in Square, and never because someone emailed, texted or called asking you to. See Keeping your account secure.
  • Refunds come out of your Square balance and can make a payout smaller.
  • For your treasurer: Square's own reports list every payment and payout.

Still stuck?

Contact Square with the payout reference. Open Ask AI if you think a payment is missing from Redswing.
